A 2-year-old child died Tuesday after being struck by a pickup truck driven by her father.

The incident in a parking lot at Rainbow Beauty Supply at 650 Kohou St. happened close to 5:04 p.m. Tuesday when the father was picking up his wife and daughter and the girl ran in front of the vehicle, police Lt. Robert Towne said.

"He just didn’t see the girl," Towne said.

The girl was taken in critical condition by her parents to the Queen’s Medical Center, where she died, authorities said.
