The Medical Examiner’s office has identified the 55-year-old Japanese visitor who died Wednesday at Leilehua Golf Course after being hit on the head by a tree branch as Shigeru Iwamoto.

An autopsy will be done on Iwamoto, of Katata, Japan, to determine cause of death.

The incident occurred at 11:45 a.m. in Wahiawa while the man was golfing on the first tee. Paramedics took the man to a hospital where he died.

The golf course was closed until further notice, and the matter is being investigated, according to the Army, which owns and operates the facility.
