The DLNR is asking for the public’s help to identify the owner(s) of two dogs seen attacking nesting Laysan albatrossses in Moloaa. 

According to the DLNR, a total of 26 albatrosses have been killed this season, 17 of them at Moloaa and the rest at nearby coastal properties.

One of the dogs is large and brown, possibly a Great Dane and the other is smaller and black, possibly a labrador, said spokeswoman Deborah Ward.

Anyone who recognizes the dogs or knows who their owner’s are is asked to call DLNR Division of Forestry and Wildlife at 274-3521 or 274-3433. Calls after hours, weekends, or holidays should be directed to the Division of Conservation and Resources Enforcement Hotline at 453-6780.

The DLNR advises owners to keep their pets on a leash and stay on marked paths and observe seabird nesting signs.
