Man who was shot after Aiea home invasion is held on $1M bail

Amery Kahale-Sugimura, 35, was arrested Wednesday on two contempt warrants each for $500,000 totaling $1 million. He had been out on bail Oct. 29 when he allegedly assaulted a 68-year-old Aiea resident and tried to get away in the resident's truck, striking two officers.

Police arrested a 35-year-old felon on two contempt warrants each for $500,000 totaling $1 million.

Amery Kahale-Sugimura was arrested at 6:58 p.m. Wednesday at 87-890 Farrington Highway in Maili, according to police records. He was also arrested on a petty misdemeanor drug charge. Bail on that charge is $1,000.

An Oahu grand jury indicted Kahale-Sugimura, also known as Jon Edward Dudoit, on 15 charges stemming from a home invasion robbery that ended when the suspect was shot by officers after allegedly trying to run them over in a stolen truck in Aiea.

Kahale-Sugimura was out on bail Oct. 29  when he allegedly assaulted a 68-year-old Aiea resident and tried to get away in the resident’s truck, striking two officers.

Court records show Kahele-Sugimura posted $250,000 bail in December. But his bail was revoked when he failed to appear in court.
