The Coast Guard is looking for the owner of an unmanned, overturned, blue kayak that was found approximately three miles northwest of Honolua Bay in Maui around 10 a.m. Saturday.

According to the Coast Guard, there were no reports of missing or distressed individuals in the area, but they are working with a helicopter crew from Air Station Barbers Point to try to rule out anyone in distress.

The cruise ship Veendam reported the kayak adrift. The kayak is still adrift, according to the Coast Guard.

The Coast Guard advises the public to register and label all watercraft and equipment with contact information in order to quickly account for owners and prevent unnecessary searches. 

Anyone with information to help identify the owner of the kayak is asked to call the Coast Guard Sector Honolulu Command Center at 842-2600.
