Junior opposite Brook Sedore and senior hitter Jace Olsen each put down 10 kills and No. 11 Hawaii celebrated the return of senior middle Nick West in a big way, sweeping No. 13 Cal State Northridge 25-20, 25-15, 28-26 in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Friday night in Northridge, Calif.

West, missing the past three weeks with a broken finger, and junior middle Taylor Averill combined for 13 kills with no errors in 17 swings for the Rainbow Warriors (6-4, 4-3 MPSF). West was in on six of the team’s 12.5 blocks as Hawaii snapped a two-match losing streak.

Greg Faulkner led the Matadors (3-5, 3-4) with 10 kills in the 99-minute contest at the Matadome.

The teams meet again Saturday at 5 p.m. Hawaii time.
