KULA, Maui >> Family members of a pregnant Maui woman who has been missing for more than a week are growing weary from the search.

A team of 50 to 70 volunteers and family members have been searching for Carly Scott since her mother reported her missing on Feb. 10.

The 27-year-old redhead is five months pregnant.

The Maui News reports that according to Scott’s mother, Kimberlyn Scott, the family plans to a “take a breather” on Tuesday and won’t be actively searching.

The team has been conducting daily searches from Haiku to Hana, by foot, on motorcycles and all-terrain vehicles. They are armed with maps of the island and donated support including search dogs and a drone that took pictures and video of unreachable cliffs and ravines.

Sister Brooke Scott said she’s so tired she feels like her body is giving up on her.

“I really need to get some sleep,” said Josh Berlin, a friend who has been fielding text messages, phone calls and personal reports from search times.

So far, the search has yielded her dog Nala and the burned shell of her SUV. Maui police Lt. William Juan said there were no updates as of Tuesday morning.

Honolulu television news stations reported the family is offering a $10,000 reward.

The expectant mother was last seen Feb. 9 at her sister’s Haiku home. Family members said she had left the house to help her ex-boyfriend, whose car had broken down around Mile Marker 20 on Hana Highway in Keanae.

Carly Scott, who goes by the nickname Charli, was born in Woodland, Calif., grew up in Sacramento and moved to Maui about 10 years ago.

Her father, Robert Scott, flew in from Seattle last week. More than a dozen relatives have flown in from the mainland.
