Matson Inc. said Wednesday it earned $19.1 million in the third quarter

Matson said today it is raising its fuel surcharge by 5 percentage points due to high fuel prices and other energy related costs.
The fuel surcharge will increase to 39.5 percent from 34.5 percent for its Hawaii service effective March 23.
The adjustment is the first increase Matson has taken since October 2012 and follows three consecutive decreases for the company’s Hawaii service.
