Fire destroys home in Pahoa
Hawaii County fire investigators are trying to determine the cause of a fire that destroyed an unpermitted, unoccupied Pahoa house Sunday night.
The fire was reported at 8:12 p.m. at Molokai and Alii roads in Nanawale Estates. It was fully involved when firefighters arrived at 8:28 p.m. and collapsed before firefighters brought the flames under control at 8:50 p.m. The fire was extinguished at 10:05 p.m.
Damage to the 1,200-square-foot structure was estimated at $140,000.
