Nevada scores 5 in the 8th to rally past Hawaii
Austin Byler hit a three-run triple with two outs in the eighth inning as Nevada rallied from two runs down to beat Hawaii 7-4 on Friday night at Les Murakami Stadium.
Jordan Devencenzi had two hits and scored twice for Nevada (8-9), which never led until Byler’s hit off UH reliever Gordon Cardenas.
Andrew Jones (0-1) took the loss for Hawaii (7-10) after giving up three runs on two hits and two walks in 1 1/3 innings of relief.
Hawaii starter Matt Cooper walked a career-high four in six innings and had his consecutive innings streak without allowing an earned run at home end at 24 2/3 innings.
Marc Flores had three hits and drove in two runs and Kaeo Aliviado went 2-for-4 with two runs scored to lead Hawaii offensively.
Evan McMahan (1-0) combined with Adam Whitt to hold the Rainbow Warriors to just two hits over the final 3 1/3 innings.
