Stanford sweeps Hawaii in volleyball

Brian Cook put down 13 kills and No. 6 Stanford scored five unanswered points at the end of Set 3 to sweep No. 10 Hawaii 25-19, 25-17, 26-24 in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation volleyball match Friday in Stanford, Calif.

Eric Molchalski added 10 kills for the Cardinal (13-7, 10-7 MPSF) in winning their fourth straight. The Rainbow Warriors (11-9, 9-8) got a match-high 14 kills from Brook Sedore in losing their third in a row.

The teams meet again Saturday (4 p.m. HST) in Maples Pavilion.

Hawaii, outblocked 11-7, led 24-21 in Set 3 but couldn’t close. Stanford held off three set points in tying at 24. The Cardinal finished with a kill by Steven Irvin and a hitting error by Sedore.
