Kapiolani Boulevard main replacement to close lanes in McCully

A water main replacement project on Kapiolani Boulevard will likely mean intermittent lane closures Monday through Friday between McCully and Paani streets, the Board of Water Supply said in a news release.

Crews will be probing for existing utility lines that cross the new waterline.

The work takes place between 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

A contractor is replacing about 2,800 feet of a 12-inch water main installed in 1938 and about 1,000 feet of an 8-inch main installed in 1953.

The work is expected to last at least through December.

Motorists are advised to expect delays and use alternate routes during constructions hours if possible.

The Board of Water Supply is posting weekly updates on the project at www.boardofwatersupply.com.
