No relief from hot, humid, hazy weather

A weather system northwest of the islands is blocking the cooling tradewinds. It could move over the islands this weekend.

There will not be any relief soon from the humid, hazy Kona weather and showers over the state, mostly in the afternoon, National Weather Service forecasters said.

A weather system blocking the cooling northeast tradewinds is expected to remain in place until at least the weekend.

Radar Tuesday morning showed scattered showers over Oahu and Kauai.

Another weather system could move over the islands as early as Friday night, bringing an increased chance of showers through Sunday.

But for now, forecasters said all islands can expect light variable winds, hazy skies with vog moving over smaller islands from Kilauea and afternoon cloud buildup over interior and leeward sections. The rains from the afternoon clouds could be heavy at times.

Tradewinds may return Sunday or Monday after the front passes over the islands.
