Li’ili’i named first-team All-Big West

Hawaii first baseman Leisha Li’ili’i’s production at the plate helped her earn first-team honors on the Big West softball all-conference team.
Li’ili’i, a junior, was among three UH players recognized by the conference when the All-Big West teams were announced on Tuesday.
UH shortstop Sarina Jaramillo made the all-conference second team and was named to the All-Freshman team. Senior second baseman Jazmine Zamora earned honorable mention recognition.
Li’ili’i started all 50 games at first base and hit a team-best .401. She also led the team with 15 home runs, 39 runs batted in, 34 walks and a .796 slugging percentage.
She finished the season third in the Big West in batting average, second in home runs and tied for third in RBIs.
She hit. .439 in 21 Big West games with seven homers and 19 RBIs.
Jaramillo hit .264 overall with three home runs and drove in 19 runs in her freshman season.
Zamora finished third on the team with a .295 batting average with four homers.
UH closed the season last Saturday at 22-28 overall and 7-14 in conference play and finished seventh in the Big West standings.
Cal State Fullerton third baseman Missy Taukeiaho was named Big West Player of the Year and Cal Poly freshman Sierra Hyland was the Pitcher of the Year. Long Beach State’s Kim Sowder was voted Coach of the Year.
