Fire crews lift mom, daughter off Manana Trail
Firefighters rescued a woman and her 3-year-old daughter Sunday after the two hikers lost their way on Manana Trail in Pearl City.
Honolulu Fire Department Capt. David Jenkins said the 30-year-old woman and her daughter became lost on their way down from the falls and called for help about 5 p.m.
Firefighters spotted the woman by helicopter and lowered a firefighter onto the trail to guide the woman to a clearing. Firefighters picked up all three in a net and flew them safely to Pearl City High School about 6 p.m., Jenkins said. No one was hurt.
Manana Trail is 6 miles long and used for hikers, bikers, and hunters, according to the state’s Na Ala Hele trails website.
