Remnants of what was once Tropical Storm Fausto have crossed into the central Pacific, east of Hawaii, and will bring muggy weather and an increased chance of rain starting Sunday night, forecasters said.

Fausto developed in the eastern Pacific on Monday with 45 mph winds and higher gusts, but quickly deteriorated on Wednesday.

There’s no appreciable winds or storm conditions associated with the remnants of Fausto, said Derek Wroe, a meteorologist with the Honolulu National Weather Service office.

“It’s a mass of leftover moisture,” Wroe said.

Hawaii residents will notice an increase in humidity on Sunday as moist air from Fausto’s remnants moves into the tradewind flow.

Forecasters also expected windward and mauka showers to increase and some of those showers to blow over to leeward sides.

The humid and wet conditions could continue into next Tuesday.
