Kahaluu man charged with murder in death of relative
Prosecutors charged an 18-year-old Kahaluu man with murder late on Tuesday afternoon for shooting his relative at their Kahaluu house on Sunday.
Police said Samuela Mataele was charged with second-degree murder, first-degree terroristic threatening and use of a firearm in the commission of a separate felony. Bail was set at $250,000.
A relative has confirmed the victim’s identity as that of Joshua Liavaa, a former Auckland, New Zealand, police officer from Tonga.
