Consumer prices in Honolulu are up 0.5 percent for the first six months of the year, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Data also shows the Honolulu Consumer Price Index is up 1.1 percent from a year ago.

The main driver of consumer price increases, according to the BLS, is energy prices, which rose 2.6 percent since the second half of 2013, with energy costs boosted by a 3 percent rise in electricity prices.

Food costs were up 0.7 percent in the first half of this year and have risen by 1.1 percent over the last 12 months.

All other costs aside from food and energy were up 0.4 percent from the second half of last year and 1.2 percent over the past 12 months, the bureau reported.
