Prosecutors charged a 25-year-old homeless man Tuesday with first-degree attempted burglary for attempting to break into a 78-year-old man’s house in Kalani-iki while the man was at home.

Jamison Janusz was charged with first-degree attempted burglary and first-degree attempted unauthorized entry into a dwelling.

His bail was set at $35,000.

Police said Janusz allegedly tried to open the resident’s sliding glass doors and a window at 4 p.m. Monday.

The man called 911 and the suspect fled, police said.

He was found at 4:27 p.m. nearby fronting 1728 Kumakani Loop and arrested.
