Maui motorcycle crash victim receiving treatment in Oahu
A 37-year-old man injured in a motorcycle crash on Maui was transported to Oahu for treatment, the U.S. Coast Guard said Saturday.
Watchstanders at the Coast Guard Joint Rescue Command Center in Honolulu received a request from Maui Memorial Hospital regarding transport.
An HC-130 Hercules was launched from Air Station Barbers Point around 6:40 a.m. with a Coast Guard flight surgeon and a two-person Disaster Medical Assistance Team onboard.
The man was transferred safely to Barbers Point at approximately 8:45 a.m. to await treatment.
“This mission truly demonstrates the flexibility and professionalism of Coast Guard aircrews who are ready to respond to any call for assistance,” said HC-130 pilot Lt. Cmdr. Garrett Faulkner. “In partnering with medical professionals, we were able to quickly provide coordinated medical assistance to an individual in need.”
The man’s condition is not known at this time.
