Traffic on King St. was detoured to H-1 freeeway

King Street leading to Kapiolani Boulevard and Kaimuki/Kapahulu reopened Wednesday morning after crews repaired a utility pole damaged in an overnight accident.

Cars traveling toward Kaimuki on King Street toward Kapiolani Boulevard and Kaimuki were routed to the H-1 freeway east-bound after a crash near the Hawaiian Humane Society on Waialae Avenue at 9:45 p.m. Tuesday.

Crews worked to repair the pole and reopen the road before the morning commute.

Police closed east-bound lanes of King Street near the Contessa condominium on Church Lane and directed traffic on Old Waialae Road and the freeway.

Kapiolani Boulevard and Harding Avenue was also closed, but reopened by 4:50 a.m.
