Prosecutors charged a 43-year-old Kalihi man Wednesday for allegedly assaulting another man Tuesday night.
Arnold Diederichs was charged with second-degree attempted murder.
Police said the incident began at 9:50 p.m. when a 59-year-old man said he was awakened by the suspect attacking him with a dangerous instrument.
Another tenant in the Kalihi street home intervened in the fight and the suspect fled.
When police arrived, officers saw the suspect threatening the victim.
Police did not say how badly the victim was injured or the weapon used.
