UH softball team routs Chaminade

The University of Hawaii softball team hit five home runs, three in the first inning, and closed the Kamaaina Tournament with a 16-1 win over Chaminade on Saturday at Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium.

Homers by Rachel Lack, Leisha Li’ili’i and Heather Morales gave UH a 4-0 lead in the first inning. Kayla Wartner hit a 3-run shot in the second and Kristina Akiona went deep to lead off to bottom of the third.

Morales also held Chaminade to two hits in three innings and was credited with the win and UH

went 3-0 in the exhibition tournament.

Earlier in the day, UH-Hilo routed Chaminade 15-0 and defeated BYU-Hawaii 8-0 to finish the weekend at 2-1.
