The city will host a free event to teach participants about transit-oriented development.

The symposium will be held Saturday at the Neal Blaisdell Center in Honolulu.

Attendees will learn about ideas and plans for neighborhood design, streets, infrastructure, housing and financing.

It will all be focused around the idea that development should happen around transit hubs.

There will be local, national and international experts talking about affordable development and public-private partnerships
