High surf advisory issued for north and west shores

A high surf advisory is in effect for the north and west-facing shores of Niihau and Kauai and the north shores of Oahu, Molokai, and Maui, the National Weather Service said Monday morning.

A large incoming north northwest swell is expected to generate 10 to 15 feet waves along the north shores and 8 to 12 feet waves along the west facing shores.

The advisory is in effect until 6 p.m. Tuesday.
