Police blocked off Salt Lake Boulevard Tuesday morning while homicide detectives investigated a case.

Police are looking for a second man who may have been involved in the beating death of a 33-year-old man and assault on a 38-year-old woman Tuesday morning in Salt Lake.

Police arrested the first suspect, a 41-year-old Salt Lake man,  on suspicion of second-degree murder and assault following the 5 a.m. incident on Salt Lake Boulevard between Likini Place and Wanaka Street and are looking for a possible second suspect.

Police would not say how the second suspect was involved in the beatings.

No charges have been filed as of Wednesday morning against the first suspect.

Paramedics took the victim, a 33-year-old man, in critical condition with facial injuries, to the hospital, where he died. A 38-year-old female also was hospitalized in serious condition with head injuries.

Police said both the man and woman suffered blunt force injuries. The weapon is believed to be a metal object.

Police said the incident began as an argument in a home fronting Salt Lake Boulevard and spilled into the street, where the man and woman were found.

Neighbors said the suspect is the former boyfriend of the woman.
