Kilauea’s June 27 lava flow advanced another 300 yards from Saturday to Sunday, bringing the front within 1.4 miles of the intersection of Highway 130 and Pahoa Village Road.

Hawaii County Civil Defense officials said the current activity does not pose an immediate threat to area communities.

Civil Defense personnel and scientists at Hawaiian Volcano Observatory personnel continue to closely monitor a narrow lobe that has branched off the west edge of the flow field below the crack system and is following a path toward Pahoa Marketplace.
