Police release suspect in Kakaako stabbings

Honolulu police released a 26-year-old man arrested in connection with the stabbing of two men during a fight in Kakaako early Saturday morning.

Police arrested the suspect after a fight that happened just after 5 a.m. Saturday on Kawaiahao Street near Cummins Street

Officers arrested him on suspicion of second-degree attempted murder and second-degree assault. But he was released without charges Sunday afternoon, pending further investigation.

Paramedics found a 29-year-old man with stab wounds to his chest and arms and a 26-year-old man with stab wounds to his leg, Emergency Medical Services reported.

Both men were taken to the hospital in serious condition.

Officers did not recover a weapon.
