Kilauea woman gets 10-year sentence for drug-related offenses
A judge at Fifth Circuit Court on Kauai on Wednesday sentenced 45-year-old Kilauea woman to 10 years in prison for drug-related offenses, according to a news release issued by Kauai County’s prosecuting attorney.
Bridget Maile Lanning had pleaded no contest to promoting a dangerous drug in the second-degree and place to keep a firearm. She also pleaded no contest to unauthorized entry of a motor vehicle in a separate incident.
In October 2013, police executed a search warrant and arrested Lanning at the Kilauea Menehune Mart. Officers recovered a loaded semi-automatic gun and 7.5 grams of methamphetamine, according to a news release issued Thursday by the prosecuting attorney’s office.
In July 2013, in a separate case, Lanning struck a woman while the victim was in her car.
Lanning has a criminal history that dates back to 2002. Her record includes misdemeanor and two petty misdemeanors for contempt of court and a petty misdemeanor for promoting a detrimental drug in the third-degree.
