Hawaii County police on Friday released a 33-year-old Mountain View woman who had been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and theft of a vehicle in connection with an officer-involved shooting in Puna.

Detectives and a special enforcement unit arrested the woman on Wednesday after receiving an anonymous tip.

On Tuesday, police were on Route 11 when they tried to stop a stolen pickup truck traveling south.

Police said the truck was driven at them in a threatening manner. An officer fired a single shot toward the truck, which continued south on Route 11 towards Hawaii Volcanoes National park.

Police recovered the stolen black Nissan pickup truck during the execution of a search warrant of the Mountain View residence where the woman was found.

Anyone with information on the theft of the pickup truck from the Prince Kuhio Plaza or the shooting on Route 11 near the Kulani Road intersection is asked to call Detective Grant Todd at 961-2385 or email at gtodd@co.hawaii.hi.us
