Matson reduces fuel surcharge for Hawaii, Guam
Hawaii’s biggest shipping company is lowering its fuel surcharge in response to declining fuel prices.
Matson said Monday it’s dropping the fuel surcharge on its Hawaii, Guam, Mariana Islands and Micronesia services by four percentage points.
Ocean Services Senior Vice President Dave Hoppes says the change will reduce most customers’ shipping costs by $80 to $140 per container.
The company says its fuel surcharge has dropped 11 percentage points since Nov. 2.
