A Kaneohe man remains in police custody Sunday awaiting a court appearance in connection with the apparent shooting of a 33-year-old man last month in Kaneohe.

Peter Picanco Sr., 44, was charged Friday with second-degree attempted murder, use of a firearm in a felony, felon in possession of a firearm, and illegal possession of a shotgun with a barrel shorter than 18 inches. His bail was set at $250,000.

Police said the victim showed up at a Kaneohe hospital at about 1:45 a.m. Dec. 20 after he was reportedly shot in the arm on Waiahole Valley Road in Waikane.

Police said the suspect was unknown at the time.

Picanco, who lives on Waiahole Valley Road, was arrested about noon Thursday at the Kaneohe police substation.

He is expected to appear in court on Monday.
