The USS Halsey guided-missile destroyer will return to Pearl Harbor this week from a seven-month deployment to the western Pacific.

The Navy says the Halsey is scheduled to pull into port on Thursday.

The ship’s crew of nearly 280 sailors participated in Valiant Shield naval exercises in Guam during the deployment. They joined Japan’s military for Keen Sword exercises off southern Japan.

Two Seahawk helicopters were on board as well.

Detachment Three from the "Easyriders" of Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron Three-Seven flew sorties in support of exercises and operations.

The sailors performed community service, including volunteering at animal shelters and visiting local elementary schools and orphanages.
