Police investigate theft of copper wire on Hawaii island

Hawaii island police are investigating a theft of about 4,000 feet of copper wiring from power poles in the Wood Valley area in January.

Between 10 p.m. Jan. 5 and 8 a.m. Jan. 6, unknown persons removed the No. 4 copper wire, police said. The copper was valued at $39,360.

Police ask anyone with information about this case or the identity of the thieves to call the Police Department’s nonemergency line at 935-3311 or officer James Lorenzo at 939-2520.
