Moped rider loses control in Liliha, is critically injured in fall

A man who was riding his moped on Lanakila Avenue in Liliha lost control of the vehicle and was thrown to the roadway and critically injured at 6:44 a.m. Sunday, police reported.

No one else was involved in the accident. The man was heading southwest on Lanakila Avenue, near the intersection with Laki Road. He taken to the hospital. His age was not available.

Police are investigating the crash. It isn’t yet clear whether excessive speed or alcohol were contributing factors.
