Galdeira posts double-double for WSU coach’s 400th win
SALT LAKE CITY >> Lia Galdeira scored 23 points on and pulled down 10 rebounds to lead Washington State to a 61-52 win over Utah on Sunday, giving coach June Daugherty her 400th career win.
Daugherty is 400-371 in her 26th season, the first seven at Boise State followed by 11 at Washington.
Tia Presley scored all 12 of her points in the second half for Washington State (14-11, 5-9 Pac-12), which trailed by as many as eight points early in the first half.
Leading by two at the break, the Cougars broke it open early in the second half with an 11-2 run capped by Presley’s bucket to make it 37-28 with 13:43 left. Utah cut the gap to 55-50 at 3:29 after a 9-2 burst but Washington State clinched it by scoring six of the game’s final eight points.
Taryn Wicijowski led Utah (8-17, 2-12) with 20 points and 11 rebounds, Danielle Rodriguez had 12 and Cheyenne Wilson 10.
