Man who died snorkeling off Makena beach identified


Maui police have identified the 53-year-old visitor from Washington who died while snorkeling Monday at South Maluaka Beach Park as Larry Robins of Spokane.

Robins’ body was brought to shore shortly after 3 p.m. from waters fronting the Makena Beach and Golf Resort.

Beach goers performed  CPR until firefighters arrived but the Robins could not be revived. 

Cause of death is pending an autopsy.
