Three women from Sweden survived an 80-feet fall when their car overturned and fell over the side of Maui’s Kahekili Highway on Monday.

The Maui Fire Department said the accident occurred at 10:20 a,m. as the women were driving towards Lahaina along a single lane portion of the highway when they got too close to the edge of the pavement and the vehicle rolled over the edge, coming to rest 80 feet below. 

When firefighters arrived, the three women, ranging in age from 20 to 25 years old, had already been helped out of the vehicle by residents, and were in good condition.  

An ambulance took two women to the hospital and the other was flown by Maui Medevac to Maui Memorial Medical Center in stable condition.
