The Maui News reports that Canadians were the largest foreign group buying property in Maui County last year.

That’s according to a Title Guaranty Hawaii report, which says Canadians bought 94 properties for a total of $84 million.

Japanese made up the second largest group of foreign buyers, purchasing about $8 million in Maui properties.

The report says Japanese were the largest buyer of properties statewide.

Hawaii residents were the biggest group of domestic buyers on Maui, followed by residents of California, Washington state and Texas.
