Hawaii bounces back to beat Hofstra 7-4

Eric Ramirez went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs and Tyler Brashears pitched seven strong innings for Hawaii in a 7-4 win over Hofstra on Thursday night at Les Murakami Stadium.

Stephen Ventimilia doubled, tripled and drove in a run and Kaeo Aliviado singled twice and scored for Hawaii (2-4), which finished with 11 hits.

Brashears (1-1) allowed two runs and six hits with one walk and five strikeouts to earn the win.

Ramirez hit a two-run double and Jordan Richartz singled off Hofstra starter Brian MacDonald (0-1) to help UH jump out to a 4-0 lead after the first inning.

Hofstra (1-4) scored two runs in the ninth off of UH freshman Ben Mora and brought the tying run to the base. Junior Cody Culp replaced Mora and got Steven Foster to fly out to right to end the game and earn his second save.

UH shortstop Jacob Sheldon-Collins hurt himself make a diving catch in foul territory in the top of the seventh inning. He stayed in the game for the next two outs before he was lifted for a pinch hitter in the bottom of the inning.
