Prosecutors charged a 64-year-old homeless man in a hatchet attack on two men in Chinatown early Thursday morning.

Norman Coldron is scheduled to make an initial appearance in District Court Friday to face  two charges of second-degree assault and a probation violation.

His bail was set at $20,000.

The incident occurred on Nuuanu Avenue at 2 a.m. Thursday when the suspect struck two men with an hatchet during an argument.

Paramedics treated a 52-year-old man for cuts to an arm and took him to the hospital in stable condition.

The other victim, a 54-year-old man, did not need medical treatment, police said.
