Honolulu neighborhood among U.S. Top 10 cheap date spots

Makiki is the ninth-best place in the U.S. for a cheap date, according to CouponsDaily.com.
The unit of Florida-based Digital Brands Inc. compared the cost of living, restaurants and entertainment in several markets to compile its Top 10 list.
Makiki was found to have affordable restaurants and free or cheap activities including Makiki Valley Loop Trail, Discover Hawaii Tour and The Hawaii Nature Center.
The restaurants cited for having cheap eats are not technically in Makiki, however. Island Style BBQ is in Kalihi; Marukame Udon has locations on Fort St. Mall and in Waikiki, and Steak Shack is in Waikiki.
Based on a median U.S. cost of living score of 100, Makiki was rated at 161, while the No. 1 market in which to have a cheap date, St. Petersburg, Fla., has a cost of living rating of 89.4.
While the site describes St. Petersburg as a place to enjoy the Craft Beer Trail or the beach, and is great for “an incredible date night,” Makiki is described as “a romantic place your date will enjoy,” and that “any date night in Makiki will be an unforgettable experience that’s also budget-friendly.”
