Speed and alcohol suspected in fatal Laie crash
Speed and alcohol were apparent factors in a crash that left a woman dead early Wednesday morning in Laie.
Police said two people were in a car heading south on Kamehameha Highway when the vehicle left the roadway, crashed through a fence and rolled several times in an open field.
Both occupants were ejected. A 27-year-old Hauula woman died at the scene.
Paramedics took a 27-year-old man, also of Hauula, to the hospital in serious condition.
The crash occurred at about 1:50 a.m. near Wahinepee Street, fronting the Gunstock Ranch.
It was not immediately clear who was driving and both occupants were intoxicated, police said.
