A car involved in a fatal single-vehicle accident came to rest in a field in Laie Wednesday morning.

Speed and alcohol were apparent factors in a crash that left a woman dead early Wednesday morning in Laie.

Police said two people were in a car heading south on Kamehameha Highway when the vehicle left the roadway, crashed through a fence and rolled several times in an open field.

Both occupants were ejected. A 27-year-old Hauula woman died at the scene.

Paramedics took a 27-year-old man, also of Hauula, to the hospital in serious condition.

The crash occurred at about 1:50 a.m. near Wahinepee Street, fronting the Gunstock Ranch.

It was not immediately clear who was driving and both occupants were intoxicated, police said.

It was the 13th traffic fatality on Oahu this year, compared to 18 at this time last year.
