No tsunami threat from magnitude 6.5 earthquake near Fiji
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center says there is no tsunami threat from a magnitude 6.5 earthquake near Fiji Friday morning.
The U.S. Geological Service estimates the epicenter was about 114 miles south-southwet of Sigave, Wallis and Futuna and 249 miles northeast of Suva, Fiji at a depth of 6.2 miles.
It struck at about 3:52 p.m. Fiji time or 5:53 a.m. Hawaii time.
There were no immediate reports of serious damage or injuries.
