Hawaii island police looking for assault, robbery suspects
Hawaii island police are looking for suspects in a Kurtistown assault and robbery on Wednesday.
A 53-year-old Mountain View man reported being approached by two men who asked for a cigarette at the Kurtistown ballpark between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. The victim said he was punched repeatedly in the face, and hit over the head with an empty bottle. He said he was dragged into a men’s restroom and the assault continued.
The suspects took the victim’s black bag with cash and other items, and left in a car with two women and three children inside, police said.
Police are looking for two men in their early-to-mid 30s, between 5-foot-5 and five-foot-7, and between 215 and 220 pounds. One is described as having dark skin and short brown hair, and wearing blue denim shorts, a black tank top and black slippers. The other had short black hair, and was wearing blue flowered-print surf shorts and no shirt. He had numerous tattoos on his neck, body, legs and arms.
Police ask anyone with information to call the non-emergency line at 935-3311. Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous may call the islandwide Crime Stoppers number at 961-8300 and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
