Los Angeles police shoot gunman in front of school
LOS ANGELES » Los Angeles police say they’ve shot and killed a man who pointed a gun at them in front of a school.
Police tell City News Service that a reported man with a gun sent officers to Sylmar shortly before 7:30 a.m. Thursday.
Officer Tony Im says the officers spotted the man facing away from them and pointing a gun to his head in front of Olive Vista Middle School.
Im says the man was shot when he turned and pointed the gun at officers. He died at a hospital.
His name wasn’t immediately released.
The school was briefly locked down.
