Typhoon Noul threatens northern Philippines
Storm warnings are posted in the Philippines as a Typhoon Noul approaches the northern island of Luzon.
Typhoon Noul, known as Dodong in the Philippines, is expected to make landfall in the Philippines Saturday night into Sunday as the equivalent of a Category 3 hurricane with peak winds of more than 110 mph.
Warnings are posted for the Luzon provinces of Sorsogon, Albay, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Quezon, Polilo Island, Aurora, Quirino, Isabela, Catanduanes and the Visayas provinces of Northern and Eastern Samar.
Accuweather.com said the latest track has Noul moving over the northeast Luzon, before heading north and northeast. This track will take Noul to the east of Taiwan.
Besides hurricane force winds and storm surge, Noul could bring up to a foot of rain to northern Luzon
Noul is expected to weaken as it passes over the Philippines, but could bring heavy rain and locally strong winds to Taiwan as early as Monday.

It could also bring heavy rain to Japan and Okinawa next week.
Noul brough torrential rain and strong winds to Yap earlier in the week, dropping more than a foot of rain to an area still recovering from Super Typhoon Maysak, which hit the area at the end of March.
