Man killed in H-3 motorcycle crash identified
The medical examiner identified a 25-year-old Honolulu man who died Sunday after he apparently lost control of his motorcycle and crashed into a guardrail on the H-3 freeway.
The cause of death for Nickolaus Gilleran was blunt force impact to his head, the medical examiner said.
Excessive speed was believed to have been a factor in the crash, according to police.
Police said the accident occurred around 2:18 p.m. in the Kaneohe-bound lanes near the Likelike Highway offramp. The rider was thrown from his motorcycle, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to an Emergency Medical Services report.
It was the 22nd traffic fatality on Oahu this year, compared with 25 at the same time last year.
