BOSTON » Two men charged with conspiring to help the Islamic State group are expected in court for a detention hearing.

A federal grand jury indicted David Wright, of Everett, Massachusetts, and Nicholas Rovinski, of Warwick, Rhode Island, on Thursday. Prosecutors are expected to ask at Friday’s detention hearing that they be held without bail while awaiting trial.

Both men were charged last week with conspiring to provide material support to terrorists by plotting with Boston terror suspect Usaamah Rahim to behead blogger Pamela Geller. Rahim was killed by investigators who say Rahim lunged at them with a military-style knife. Rahim’s family has questioned that account.

Authorities say the three men initially planned to kill Geller, but Rahim called Wright on June 2 and told him he wanted to kill police officers.
