Hiker who died in fatal fall at Mount Olomana identified

The Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the hiker who fatally fell from Mount Olomana Saturday as Glenn Vopper of Orange Park, Florida.

Vopper was 53.

Vopper was hiking between the first and second peaks of Olomana Saturday morning when he fell about 200 feet, Emergency Medical Services said.

He was unconscious and had no pulse when he was found, according to the Honolulu Fire Department.

Firefighters responded to the scene at 11:47 a.m., and the first company and the fire helicopter got to the hiker at 11:56 a.m.

Vopper was airlifted to EMS, a fire official said.
